Pass around a plate of homemade candy the next time the gang's at your house. Here are some delicious recipes that will turn out perfect candy every time!

Chocolate Fudge
You can make this fudge without even cooking.
Put a 3-ounce package of cream cheese in a mixing bowl and let it stand at room temperature until soft. Cream with a wooden spoon and slowly blend in 2 cups of sifted confectioners' sugar.
Melt 2 ounce squares of unsweetened chocolate over a pan of hot water. Add to cream cheese mixture.
Also add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla, a dash of salt, and 1/4 cup of chopped nuts. Mix thoroughly.
Press into a well greased pan and chill in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. When firm, cut into squares.

Peanut Butter Fudge
You can make peanut butter fudge by following the same recipe as for chocolate fudge. Instead of chocolate, use 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. Use 2 1/2 cups of confectioners' sugar.
Nut Surprises
You won't have to cook these candies, either. Just get together the following ingredients:

1 1/2 cups broken walnuts
1 cup seedless raisins
1 cup pitted dates
2 tablespoons honey

Put 1/2 cup of nuts through a food chopper and then set it aside. Now put the rest of the nuts, the raisins, and the dates through the chopper. Add the honey and mix well.
Butter your hands and roll the mixture into little balls. Then roll the balls into the 1/2 cup of ground nuts. Your nut surprises are now ready to serve!

Wintergreen Wafers
For these colorful candies you'll need the following ingredients:

2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
6 1/2 teaspoons water
1/4 teaspoon wintergreen extract
a few drops of green food coloring

Combine all of the ingredients in the top of a double boiler and cook over hot, but not boiling, water for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a sheet of waxed paper and let harden.

Peppermint Wafers
You can also make peppermint wafers by using oil of peppermint instead of wintergreen and adding red food coloring.

Crunchy Treats
To make these good-to-munch-on candies, you'll need the following ingredients:

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate bits
1 cup corn flakes
1/2 cup shredded coconut, snipped
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup salted peanuts, pitted dates, or seedless raisins

Using a double boiler, melt chocolate over hot, but not boiling, water. Stir chocolate until smooth. Remove pan from heat.
Stir in corn flakes, coconut, vanilla, and peanuts (or dates or raisins). Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Chill until firm, and you will have about two dozen Crunchy Treats!

After trying these easy recipes, you can go on to try some more difficult ones from a cookbook. Remember that candy-making can be messy work so you should get into the habit of cleaning up as soon as you're finished!
